Their life in Lafayette

John and Mary had a farm somewhere near Lafayette. Their daughter, Agnes, told me they planted tomatoes, lemons, oranges, walnuts and corn. She also spoke about their 40 cows and 13 horses. Only once did she see snow and when that happened her mother ran out and built a snowman. Agnes also related that the farm was in a valley and that they had to go there on a serpentine road and go through a tunnel. She mentioned Happy Valley.
