Father Jan-Erik Karlsson, mother Maria Katarina Andersdotter, three brothers and one sister.

Emigrated from Sweden:
Left her home March 17, 1894. The boat that took her to USA was Luciana. She entered Ellis Island, New York about March 30, 1894.

Mary’s first years in USA:
Mary went to Akron, Iowa when she arrived in America. I suppose she had friends there. November 14, 1895 she started a trip to California. During this trip she wrote a diary which I now own.

Married:
November 19, 1898 in Oakland, California. You can see the marriage license here.

Life as a widow:
After John died in 1907, Mary gave birth to their youngest son Fred. She stayed in California and took care of the family and the farm until 1911, when she went back to Sweden and bought her parents’ farm.

Died:
Mary died August, 29 1948 in Hova, Sweden
